Binding

A notebook is only as good as how flat it lies.We use sewn binding because it's the method that opens fully flat — from the first page to the last — and stays that way for years. The choice of thread and the adhesive used to set the spine are both chosen specifically for this result. A planner that fights you when you open it is a planner you'll stop using.

Pressing Process

Why our notebooks lie flat — and stay strong. After binding, we press each notebook multiple times, balancing the thickness between the spine and the opening edge. This isn't just about how flat the pages lie — it's what gives the entire notebook its strength. A properly pressed spine can flex through a full 360 degrees without weakening, because the structure was built to handle it from the start.

Lot Tracking

Every notebook, traceable. Each DAIGO notebook carries a unique production number. It's a small detail, but it means every unit we ship can be traced back to exactly when and how it was made — part of the same quality discipline we apply to every step of production.

Factory
Since 1944, every notebook and planner we make has been produced at our own factory in Horyuji, Nara — one of Japan's oldest cities, and home to DAIGO ever since. We don't outsource our binding. We don't compromise on our paper. Everything is made in-house, by people who have spent careers getting the details right.
